Embodying Medusa Workshop
with Kathleen Prophet and Amy Palko

Medusa, no longer a bloodless bodiless Monster, in this workshop we will explore, awaken, and embody our original Medusa nature – our instinctual bodily wisdom and power - through a depth process of embodied arts and photography.

What we've lost from Medusa is her story. We have lost her side of things. We only know her through the voice of the patriarchy. She has been frozen out and silenced. Isn't it time we got to know her better?

In this unique 2 day experience - part self-portrait tutorial, part writing workshop, part sacred chocolate ceremony - we will dive deeply into the material of our lives, so that we might reflect back to ourselves, through image and word, the magic and the mystery of this embodied moment. 

This is a special weekend urban version of Doug’s popular Zen & the Art of Photography. We will use the unique photo opportunities in an urban environment to show that Zen images can happen anywhere and inspiration can be found wherever we are. Through photo exercises, assignments and field trips participants will deepen their visual awareness and self-expression while clarifying their approach, making their image making both more personal and more meaningful.
